Here is an image circulating around the web of a supposedly iPad mini which is speculated to be launched on October 17:
Compared to the iPad, it has squarer edges but with similar lightning dock connector as the new iPhone 5. But according to Mike Cane, the FCC identity code at the back of this mini Ipad is same with the 3rd Generation iPad which means that photo is somehow bogus. Moreover, Apple usually sends out invites to a special event about a week prior to it but no invite was released this week. It is very unlikely then that the new device will be launched next week.
But Apple coming up with a smaller iPad is not impossible if it wants to provide a smaller table and compete with Google’s Nexus 7 and Amazon Kindle Fire HD. It is going to be a hit for those who find the current iPad too big and the iTouch, too small.
