Check What You Can’t Easily See When Buying a House

>> Friday, September 30, 2011

When buying a house, what do you check out first? The level of security of the subdivision where it is located? The kind of neighborhood you are going to have? The proximity of the subdivision to key establishments like schools, malls and others? Of course, you will also consider the house itself. The quality and design of it matters a lot to most of us, home buyers. We should get the value of what we pay for. Since most homes these days cost a fortune, one must make sure that he is paying for something that is made of high quality materials. This will not only ensure him that the house will stand for a long time but also, his family’s life and well-being are not put into danger.

It is easy to see if the walls, partitions, ceilings, floorings and others are made of second rate materials. They are visible after all. But what about those that you can’t see yet might make your life uncomfortable and miserable if they get broken and malfunction too often. I am talking about wirings and plumbing. You don’t get to see them because they are hidden but it is best to have someone check to see if they are in good condition and the materials are made of durable and high quality materials. Speaking of plumbing, did you know that many builders now prefer to using PEX plumbing instead of copper? Apparently PEX tubing is easier to install and replace because of their capacity to easily bend. Moreover, they don’t rust simply because they are not made of metal.

So when you are thinking of buying a house, make sure that the quality of materials is superb – those that are visible and especially those that you can’t see to avoid unnecessary worries, inconvenience and problems in the future.

When September Ends

>> Monday, September 19, 2011

September is about to end next week and it’s only today that I heard the song, Wake Me Up When September Ends. It’s not that the song holds a special meaning for me. In fact, September is kinda special for my family and I don’t want it to end just yet.

But unlike me, some of my friends are already eager for October to end. Yes, October. It’s time for Halloween and dressing up and consuming sweets in large amounts. On the other hand, others are patiently waiting for Thanksgiving and of course, Cyber Monday. In fact, they’ve already started their shopping list. If my memory serves me right, I got my netbook during last year’s Cyber Monday. However this year, there’ll be no major purchases for us as we are saving for a big project plus some more travels for next year.

PinterestThe name alone sounds interesting, right? Right. It has been one of my preoccupations some months back but I have to consciously stop because it gets addicting. Seriously addicting. Since the WWW is a rich resource, you can pin almost anything and everything – images that inspire you or delight you – anything that you find interesting. It keeps you updated too in whatever field and industry you are involved and interested in – fashion, crafts, cooking, even

celebrity wedding trends. And you can’t help but hop from one site to another, discovering new information and more interesting visuals.

What is it by the way? Simply put, it’s a way of bookmarking interesting images and linked back to it originated. Moreover, you can even categorize your Pins. It is a good way to bookmark design ideas, interior design ideas, color combinations, recipes, even scrapbook layouts that you wish to emulate. From Pinterest, I have discovered a lot of blogs that give away nice downloadable images which I can use for organizing, scrapbooking and labeling stuff.

If you wish to receive an invitation to Pinterest (yes, you have to be invited in order to create a free account), just leave me a comment at this post with your email address. I promise not to use that email address other than the stated intent.

But it’s addicting. Just don’t tell me I didn’t warn yah!

Hello, September!

>> Friday, September 2, 2011

Can you actually believe it? The ber months are already upon us and in a few, we’ll be celebrating Christmas! In fact, my first SMS yesterday, being the first day of September came from my best friend who wished me a merry Christmas. Haha!

He usually rings me during long drives so I asked where he was headed to yesterday. I received a reply that he is just checking out some car rims for sale at a certain store and not on travel. It seems that his car rims need replacement and he only got around shopping just yesterday due to his hectic schedule. And he does not expect things to slow down for him, work-wise, especially during the last quarter of the year. Quotas and sales targets must be met so he really, really need to work double time. I hope though, that he’ll have enough time to rest during the holidays and to see me, of course, when we go visit.
