Our Mall of Choice

>> Wednesday, August 31, 2011

We just came back to our normal routine after a long weekend. It was enjoyable despite some mishaps and we thoroughly had fun enjoying our friends’ company, sharing stories over good food and taking photos. We did a bit of shopping too and each of us have our own loots.

Speaking of shopping, I can’t believe (or I should!) how packed Marquee Mall was with people during the long weekend due to the long weekend sale plus guest appearance of some celebrities. Almost everything was on sale including shoes and clothes, beauty and bath items, vitamin supplements and fat burners, kitchen and home appliances and many others. My husband was a happy camper upon going home for being able to buy a nice pair of office shoes which he got at 50% discount.

As mall rats, Marquee Mall has been our preferred mall for a long time now and we frequent the place almost every weekend for shopping, dining, movies and even grocery-shopping. Most often, the mall is not as busy compared to the other malls here. We can leisurely stroll around the place, eat at our favorite restaurants, shop and window-shop. At times, we even allow our girl to play at the public playground. Aside from being a nice and serene place, the ride going there is less stressful too compared to the trip going to the other nearby malls, thus, Marquee Mall is indeed, our choice!

New Look for My Digiscrap Blog

>> Wednesday, August 24, 2011

I have finally came around and revamped my digital scrapbooking blog. The design has been very old and dusty but nothing has inspired me to replace it, I just didn’t. Until last week when I bought a new and somewhat colorful kit which I used in creating the new header. Wanna see? Come and take a peak at the new and improved DIGISCRAPTOLOGY.

I Made a Zoo Box!

We live relatively far from my daughter’s school and she has been instructed several times before to inform me of any school projects require us to buy supplies from the store prior to our ride home. Forgetful that she is, it is a good thing that two days ago, she told me of a school requirement – cutout photos of wild and domesticated animals which should be placed inside a shoe box. It will be called a Zoo Box. It’s a good thing that I was on a store last week and saw their huge collection of educational posters. That’s where we proceeded that day to buy the materials we needed.

The mall was undergoing a renovation but my daughter was very much impressed by the stores in it. She was more delighted to see that what we needed were all there. It’s just a sad thing that the store did not invest on good receipt printers like the Epson TM-T88V used by other stoers. They are still using an old one that has made the cashier do her job slower than usual.

Anyway, I spent the evening cutting out the animals as they were plenty. I also did the wrapping of the shoe box with manila paper. Use of scissors is therapeutic for me but finding a way to effectively and nicely wrap a shoe box without creases is somewhat frustrating. But I think I did a pretty good job with my daughter’s Zoo Box. I even got a comment that wiped away all my tiredness and frustration: “I am so lucky to have you as my Mom!”

What’s Playing on my iPod…

>> Tuesday, August 23, 2011

… over and over again? This:

The Best of Sixpence None the Richer
The Best of Sixpence None the Richer. I am a creature of habit, that’s for sure. And this has been my favorite album for quite some time now. I play it on the background while scrapbooking or writing. Their music keeps me alert and awake, especially in the morning. But the more important reason that made me stick with this album is the message that is imparted by their songs – faith, hope and love. ;)

My favorites include Trust, The Ground You Shook and Breathe Your Name. Of course, not to be missed are There She Goes and Kiss Me. But if you ask my daughter, she will tell you that her most favorite track is Dancing Queen. Well, that’s a good choice too, baby!

When our doctors prescribe a drug to help us recover, we hope that indeed, this will aid and help improve our health and condition. However, some manufacturing companies fail to declare the serious and life-threatening side effects of some drugs. Included in the list is Topamax - an anti-convulsant and anti-migraine headaches medicine. A scientific study conducted by the American Academy of Neurology in 2008 has revealed that Topamax causes cleft lip and palate birth defects. There were 203 pregnancies that were revied.

And If You Don’t Play, You Can’t Win

>> Tuesday, August 16, 2011

This is an excerpt of the book I have just finished reading yesterday:

It is from a novel entitled Paradise by the best-selling author Judith McNaught. It is a highly recommended read by my friends and it took me a while to finish it since I was also reading some books and finishing my photo books in between work (both offline and online). To try to describe how eloquent and magnificent Judith McNaught is as an author is beyond my capacity. All I know is that I like the way she builds up her characters. I like how she portrays them. And most importantly, I like the values she impart by telling us her stories. Sure, her characters are endearing. The plot, exciting. But the values and wisdom she shares through them are invaluable.

Take for instance that statement said by the male lead, Matt to Meredith, his female counterpart. There are some of us who are afraid of taking risks. But what Matt said hits the bull’s eye. We can’t win unless we play. We’ll never know if we’ll succeed unless we try. And so we try, we play. If we lose, at least we tried, right? Besides, we won’t be left wondering, “What if I tried?” And if we win? Well, we deserve a good pat on the back! ;)

The Truth about Anti-Cellulite Creams

>> Monday, August 15, 2011

Weight loss is such a sensitive issue especially for individuals who have tried different diet solutions only to end up being frustrated. And since it’s the summer season, women are cramming to lose those cellulites and get ready to flaunt their beach bodies. But how can you get ride of that flabby skin in just weeks?

Some people find that anti cellulite creams could be the solution to the problem. But before you rush to the store and get your own jar, it is better to determine if the stuff really does work. With the number of companies launching their own versions of weight loss treatments and products, as a consumer you should know a thing or two about the product that you are about to purchase.

First thing that you need to check is the content. Identify the ingredients and determine if any of these components could actually help minimize the appearance of cellulites. Since it will be directly applied to your body, check first with your doctor or consult a dermatologist to make sure that it is safe to use. Know if there any possible side effects. A little internet research about anti cellulite creams could provide you with insightful information. Read reviews and comments from past cream users and use it as your guide before you make a decision.

Our Movie Dates

>> Thursday, August 11, 2011

Last night, my friend Roy, asked if I have seen the final Harry Potter movie. Unfortunately NOT. Our weekends have been very busy with things which are far more important like recuperating from illness. My daughter was sick last weekend. That’s after me getting sick two weekends ago.

While we can’t bring our daughter with us to watch HP7 (too much conflict seem to agitate her) she insisted that the three of us watch Captain America.  I hope we can still catch HP7 and Captain America before Smurfs the Movie is shown on theaters. That’s another movie that the three of us plan to see.

Smurfs’ Village on iTouch

>> Tuesday, August 9, 2011

Smurf's Village
This game has kept me busy for quite some time, especially when I was sick two weeks ago. Initially, it was installed on my husband’s iTouch only. By our daughter, of course. However, since it’s more fun to play and see my friend’s villages, I downloaded it too on my iTouch and started playing.

I felt intimidated when I saw how nice and neat and organized my friends’ villages are! But I have accepted that that has been my handicap. Designing farms or villages or what-have-yous in many games that I played, including Farm Town on Facebook some many years ago is not my strongest point. I am just clueless on how to cluster houses or crops or whatever to make them look nice together. However, what excites me with those kinds of games is the capacity to earn coins. The more coins I earn, the better. I just do not know how to spend them to make my village or farm look nice. Hahaha!
