The Crazy Ride Begins Again

Howdy and how was you weekend? Ours was spent recuperating, of course! Some relatives and a friend also came to visit and it was a breeze to have them around. I will be going back to work after a week's leave tomorrow. I can't say that I am excited, especially now that we are going nanny-less for an indefinite time. Yes, our Tita Jen was not allowed to return again and work by her mom. Oh well. It's a loss on our part since we have grown to love Jen. She adores and is very patient with the little girl, she cooks so well and is smart. We won't be missing her that much though because she will be coming over during the weekends.

However, having a pupil who goes to school for half a day daily and having no nanny to accompany her during the morning is tough. Hay. We are going to get through though and I believe that. We are not going to stop hoping and praying and looking for nanny until we find one. For the mean time, we wil do our best to run this household in the sanest way possible so wish us luck!

Early Christmas Shopping

The holiday season is fast approaching and if you are not like me, you surely are getting your list ready so as not to cram and stress yourself when gift-giving time finally comes. I usually wait for the last minute before I make my list and then scout the limited shops here for gifts for the godsons and goddaughters on my list. I know some friends who are now looking for the best gifts to give their loved ones.

However, with the vast number of items and gifts to choose from, the question is what to give? I know, it can pose a problem and a great source of stress. However, if you are seriously looking for unique gifts to give this year, why not choose from a wide array of unique wall clocks? There is this cat wall clock that reminds me of a college instructor who used to live in apartment with her dozen or so cats. She recently purchased a house and lot in our subdivision and I believe that this will fit her new abode. She is such a memorable lady because she is not only kind and we happen to share the love for cats but because she shares the same birthday with my daughter who saw and likes to buy a cute cat clock she saw online.

His Addiction

Let me share a secret with you. My husband does not drink nor smoke, but he is a promotional products addict.

When we shop for groceries, he is always on the lookout for items that offers promotional products. To prove my point, let's just say that we have more than a dozen of juice shakers from one brand, about three small water jugs from another, four lunch bags from a chocolate drink brand and there's more that escapes me now. Recently, even if we didn't need any, he bought two cans of all-purpose cream and its because he got two plastic containers for free!

I am proud to say that I am married to a very smart man. But I wonder, is this *fondness* for promotional products normal or is bordering craziness? :)

Kinda Back

Obviously, I am back! However, I am not that kind of back yet because this time, it is the girl who is sick! I really hate it when that happens. I know that every parent does. It is sad and depressing but then I can't sulk forever because I have a sick kid to attend to.

But mind you, minus her fever, she is one happy, playful and noisy girl! I guess she enjoyed the unlimited attention she got from me. (There's just the three of us here and nope, she does not *like* her Dad that much!) I guess I had enough hand games with matching silly songs that she learned at school to last me a week! No, make that a month! Even when we're lying down, we *had* to play those games. Good thing she does not ask me to sing with her. Haha! I was not also spared from playing with the little animals and their big houses!

She still has a good appetite. And hey, we survived the week without much cooking - thanks to take-outs! I missed cooking so I decided to cook tonight, much to the Husband's surprise.

I badly need to get back to work but the Husband thinks that I need to fully recover yet. I have a lot of pending jobs to do. If October 1 is a holiday, I would be celebrating because I should be having a big event that day (and obviously, I have not prepared yet!) Hay.

Anyways, it's the week end and I am happy to cross-out at least one of the things that I should be doing. You all have a great time with your family. I know I will!

BRB (I Hope!)

I have been throwing up since I woke up this morning - 3 times! No fun, really. The breakfast which was lovingly prepared by the H went to waste and I was not able to take any medications nor vitamins. My tummy rejects even plain water! Haay. So I set an appointment with my doctor at around 3 PM later. And if you don't see me updating tonight or tomorrow, it is likely that I am advised for hospital confinement which is really, I don't want to happen. Wish me luck!

On a lighter note, I am so proud to see my girl dress up for school on her own. She is one independent and brave girl and I can't help but admire her.

Sickie Again

And that's what I got for braving the rains and flood just to get to work. Hah! I began sneezing last Saturday. Yesterday, my asthma started and last night, I was feverish and vomited, my head was aching and again, I was sneezing. I wanted to take meds right now, but I have not taken any food yet. I would like to but I fear I might throw up again since I did upon waking up. No fun, really. Obviously, I am home just when I need not be. The boss will be out the entire week and there are big responsibilities left for me to accomplish. Hay. I wish to get better soon as being sick sucks, especially now that we are on the second week of having no nanny. Hay.

SIX

It's been six long years and I thank the good Lord for all the blessings that this marriage has brought to our family, to our extended families and relatives and to our dear friends. I have been loved and cared for by the most wonderful and loving man that I could ask for. We had our own share of troubles but we have proven that love can really conquer everything - our love for each other and most importantly, God's love for us. We have been blessed with a very adorable, smart and beautiful girl who is our source of our joy. Our family and friends who have been so supportive of us and we all thank and love you for everything. :)

Today marks the feast of Our Lady of Penafrancia and it so happens that she is the patroness of the subdivision where we live in. I had a request from Mama Mary and to thank her for the help, I decided to prepare a small feast in her honor (plus our anniversary celebration, of course)! We also offered a thanksgiving during the high noon's Mass. And it was so timely that we were blessed by the presider before the Mass ended since it's the third Sunday of the month and those celebrating their wedding anniversaries for the month gets a special blessing. The little girl was the one who was giddy with excitement. Hehe. Before leaving for the Mass, we had our photos with the help of our tripod. Unfortunately, some are out of focus but it was fun!

Some people came with food in hand and I thank them sincerely. We only had few guests and it was a delight to have them for dinner. They basically know each other because of us - most are from my previous office. Most of the food we served were bought, thanks to the Hubby who did not want to add more stress into my already stress-filled life. Hehe.

So what did I get for the dear Hubby? None for now. Hehe. The unexpected flood in the school made me loose my life's scheme of things! I will definitely find him a fitting gift soon. A pair of Clarks shoes might do. And you might ask, what did he get me? Hah. Nothing! He said that I would just buy and he will just refund. Haha! Smart guy! But with or without gifts, I totally love this guy and I am going to keep him until the die I die, whether he likes it or he likes it very much! ;)

Thursday Ramblings

I am still here and we're floating! Haha! Just take a look at this photo:

And guess what, we are still conducting classes and the offices are still open for transactions! OK, the offices and most of the classrooms are not flooded yet but hey, there are flood water everywhere! Hay. If you're on the streets and see college students who are wearing slippers, they are OUR students. Haha! And it seems that we are waiting to sink. Hay. And there is no assurance of when will this end. This is such a huge problem and we are not used to it. The water seemed to have receded late this afternoon but it was cloudy. And right now, a heavy downpour is making things worse! Pinoy as we are, we just laugh and make fun out of the situation. One joke that was going around was that we change our name and nature of business - from a university to a resort. Haha!

However, I will admit, I would love (and badly need) a break from work. :D See, we are nanny-less for about a week now and there are piles of domestic tasks that needs to be done. (And not to mention laptop and online tasks too! Haha!) I feel so guilty for being unable to feed my family with decent meals during dinner time. I just feel so tired upon coming home from work this days. Hay. Must be that time of the month again.

But despite that, I still have these flabs in the middle! I am thinking of taking diet pills again but I doubt if I can sustain it. I am plain lazy and hey, I do love eating! I don't usually take my snacks since I transferred office but I consume lots of rice in my main meals. Can anyone spare me with some self-control? Haha! Well, dieting will start tomorrow. And if I fail, then, it will be on the day after tomorrow. And so on and so forth. :D

Here We Go Again?

Yeah! I am finally done putting all the links in one place and you can find them all HERE. I am so, so happy to finally accomplish something that I have meaning to do for a looong time! The changing of template will be done once the inspiration strikes. Haha! Soon. :)

But sadly, we are facing another flood problem. Just two months ago, we had a week off from school because of the flood. You can read some of my posts and see the photos here. The water started to rise days before it actually rained! Most of the barangays here are being flooded too. And the refugees coming from the war-afflicted areas in the neighboring towns and cities are now facing yet another problem.

However, university life goes on! I had students coming in for consultations and stuff. And boy, I was sooo happy to see them!

Well, it has been raining and we will surely wait for what will our destiny be tomorrow. Hehe.

Change!

It seems to me that this blog needs to have a new look. And to start, I have already cleaned-up my sidebar a little bit. My scrappy friends might be alarmed not seeing their links there but no worries, they are all HERE. See? ;) I will soon be working on those exchange links thingy and place them on the same post. It is going to take some time but I know it's worth it. As soon as the links are in their proper places, the template will also be changed. Hah! I can't wait! I am not a basketball nor a UAAP fan but the Husband is. Based on the results of the game between UE and AdMU late this afternoon, the Blue Eagles will be facing the Green Archers for the finals of the 71st Season of the UAAP. When asked for comments, the H was silent. Haha! Though I know and expect that this is a much-anticipated match. Guess which team are we rooting? The blue one, of course! ;)

Craving For...

... carbonara at this time - 1:00 in the morning. This reminds me that it's been almost a month since the last time I visited my favorite cafe here in the city. They serve the best pasta, cakes and pastries in the city. Most often, it there where I take my visitors for lunch or snacks. The foods and beverages they serve are superb, not to mention how cozy the ambiance is. Their furniture and fixture are not only comfortable but also eye candies. I would love to take home one of their coffee tables there! The lighting and decors are perfect, and so is the background music. The waitresses are extra nice too. It's a small place but it is friendly and very homey. I always leave the place full and happy. And I noticed that I have this distinct yummy smell whenever I leave the place. LOL!

Anyways, this post is really, really making me hungry now so I better stop and hit the sack. You all have a safe Friday!

A Different Kind of Club

I rarely drink. I will be turning 30 towards this year's end and the only time that I got drunk was when a cousin from far away came to visit and we took her out. That was some years ago. The second time was when our high school batch had a reunion about three to four years ago. I am not knowledgeable about alcoholic drinks. I am clueless about brand names and how each are different from each other. So imagine my surprise when I encountered the wine of the month club.

So what is a wine of the month club? It is a club that searches for low production award winning wines from boutique vineyards and each month, the chosen wines are delivered to the doorsteps of the club's members. Based on what I have read, these wines are not your usual wines that can be bought from your local shops because these come in limited quantities. The Family that Plays Together...

...stays together!

It's midnight and it's obvious that I am still awake. Here I am, doing what I like doing (though I prefer creating a layout these days, err, nights) and the Husband is so wide awake, playing a computer game which he has been wanting to play for so long. One of the many things that he and I and our kid share, it's the *love* for computer games. I love fast arcade games while the Husband is into RPG. On the other hand, our girl is into NickJr. online games. We are still looking for other online games for her though. Any suggestions?

Another way to bond is through watching cartoons. We are so into Disney Channel, especially during non-class days. We recently saw Ratatouille and we thoroughly enjoyed it! The Husband and I usually discuss the movie afterward, especially if there werere some things which I did not understand. (Yeah, I am the slow one. LOL!) And wouldn't it be nice if we are sitting on these totally elegant set of home theater seating?

With our little girl in the middle and then me on one side and the H on the other... Perfect! Bring in the popcorn and ice tea! (No soda here!) This set is a must once we get our own (and definitely bigger) house. When? I don't know! LOL!

Duh Day

It was not a so fun day because of an encounter with what I want to call, the third kind. I just wish that people will let us do our job as we let them do theirs. If they think that they can do OUR job better, then, why don't they go to the authority and just present themselves! I would gladly turn-over everything to them. Haha! It's a job I seriously enjoy, minus the detractors. Hehe. I love working with the students. It's stressful, yes, but it is fulfilling to assist them realize their full potentials as student leaders. We are looking ways to serve them better and let's just say that I am lucky to have a very wise and open-minded boss. He makes our detractors look so insignificant. Haha!

Anyways, this enjoyable yet stressful job makes me want to shop for bags and shoes. Seriously! Like what I have been telling two of my closest friends, I feel that I need to reward myself with all the *good* job that I have been accomplishing. And what is the best way to reward any woman? Bag and shoes shopping, of course! At least, in my case. Haha! And next to that is luxury vacations, of course. Haha! But I for now, I am scrimping because the holidays will soon be here! I will hopefully do my grand shopping spree during the Christmas break, if the budget (and the Hubby) permits, of course! :)

H is for Health

Yesterday, I bought a recent copy of Reader's Digest Asia because a favorite local comedian's is featured in its cover. It is a humor issue so I was surprised to find a promotional survey questionnaire in it. I answered it for fun and I am happy to report that in one question regarding the illnesses that concerns my household, I only ticked Allergy and Skin Problems. I have been asthmatic all my life. My husband has been suffering from allergic rhinitis. It is good that our daughter did not inherit any of those allergies. However, she has a sensitive skin. A small insect bite can turn into an ugly blister. My poor girl. We our hoping that she will soon outgrow this condition.

Speaking of skin problems, did you know that a skin which is previously broken, such as surgical wounds, blisters, burns and insect bites is prone to Cellulitis? The diabetics, the elderly and those with poor immune system are most susceptible to Cellulitis. However, those who are living in shared in common quarters and are sharing hygiene facilities, like the internally displaced people here in our locality who are living in the evacuation centers because of the ongoing war are gullible to contracting Cellulitis. How is it diagnosed? The appearance of the skin is highly important in diagnosing, however, the doctor might require some tests like blood test in order to verify what the real problem is. This is a bacterial infection, thus, therapy includes appropriate antibiotics, cleaning of wound and administering of pain reliever.

Butterfly

And I did it again! Thanks to mojo who came and is on a roll! I initially planned to scrap something about the girl, the ants and the kite. However, when she came and initiated a little chit-chat, this conversation took place. It was a ding-ding-ding! moment so I decided to change plans and document the moment instead. I changed the paper strip and looked for more butterfly-themed kits. She even insisted on filling the whole page with more butterflies and wands (which she saw in one of the folders). Haha! I will teach her about my "less is more" policy once she gets a little bit older. It's quite tough to explain the concept of minimalism at her age. It's like introducing online auto insurance quotes to me. Haha!

Seriously, it's tough to know when a layout is already done. How can you tell if it needs more or some things should be removed? Good thing I have a buddy who told me to remove a doodle from the layout and add a thing or two. I obediently followed some of her advices and that made her happy. And it made me happy too! I am scrapping for her and yeah, she should be involved in the process.

Counting the Days

It's September already and we, Filipinos, know what that means - Christmas has officially started in the country! On the first day of the month, on my way to school, I passed by a house that played a Christmas song. And I can't help but smile and be reminded that vacation time (and my 30th birthday) is just around the corner.

About two months ago, we've already booked our flight and we are supposed to leave a day before my birthday. I actually requested the Husband not to book it on my birthday (which is a Saturday) because it won't make my day happy - it will stress me! Preparing for the annual family trip has been MY job. It is I who prepares and packs our things and looks for ideal pasalubong from here. So as early as now, I am scouting for the best luggage. It is a definite must to have a reliable traveling partner - just like Swiss Army luggage. It carries a wide array of luggage and bags for every traveler in the family. Woot!

I scrapped! Nursing a sick kid inspired me to come up with this layout. It's been a while, you know - if you don't count my scrapping with quickpages for our 2006 vacation photos. Anyway, I was burning CDs of kits yesterday (while attending to the whiny little girl) and guess what, I now have 101 numbered CDs! Yes, "numbered". Because I have those which aren't numbered. LOL! Obviously, I don't have an EHD and my laptop memory is limited so backing them up on CDs is a definite must do. I used to tag each item in ACDSee but now, I just make sure that I have them in my offline media through Photo Disc. At least I can see their contents without loading them in my CDROM. What a big relief for my laptop!

It was definitely fun to be scrapping from scratch again - no templates nor quickpages. Here's hoping for more scrap pages before the year ends!

Not a Manic Monday

It's officially a Monday from where I live and it's Mama Mary's birthday! Yay! We are not going to *work* today, instead a simple celebration will be held in honor of Notre Dame. The little girl is excited as well because they it's a no-class day for her. She is suffering from cough though. Poor kid...

And a sad news just came in - one of our wedding sponsors passed away - Ninong Ric, who is the father of one of my bestest friends, Kuya Ric. Kuya Ric is coming home from Manila soon and I hope to see him once he arrives.

Have You Noticed...

... that you spend more time EC dropping instead of blogging? That's what I have been doing last night! I spend almost 3 hours, just going from blog to blog, dropping ECards. It's addicting and fun but I MISS BLOGGING! And not to mention scrapping too! Haha! I only have a limited computer time so I badly need to budget it WISELY. Oh well... 

But at least, I am aware. That's a good start. Hehe.

Google Chrome

Have you heard about Google Chrome? It's a nifty little thing, if you ask me. I came across this new web browser from Google (obviously!) while I was EC-dropping. Being the gaya-gaya that I am, I decided to give it a try and guess what, I am loving it! It loads the multiple pages I open quicker compared to Mozilla. Don't ask me to compare it with Internet Explorer because honestly, I stopped using it some eons ago. Haha! Anyway, if you are interested and wants to see it for yourself, go here and have fun!
