It's Official

>> Sunday, June 29, 2008

Come July 1, 2008, in line with the university's strategy of enhancing student-centeredness, I will be serving as a Student Welfare & Development Assistant. Sounds heavy, if you ask me! Reading my job description already makes me reach for my pain -reliever pill!

I have been already asked to attend meetings even if my appointment was not out yet. The university president already announced my transfer during his administrative team meeting, meeting with the student leaders and our university-wide orientation. It seems that he has high expectations from me. Yay!

I looove my current office. A lot of happy and not-so happy things happened to me there in my more than 9 years of stay there. It's where I met my love of my life. :D And I totally looove the people there. I won't really miss them because my new office is just some few steps away from them. But it is going to be different, I know. *sigh*

However, I am very much excited with my new work because I will be doing new things. I love working with the young ones - talking to and relating with them and sometimes, knocking the sense out of them. :D But aside from student development, I will also be involved with student discipline. Yikes! Not my cup of tea, really. I am already finding it difficult to discipline my 5-year old girl, much more maintain discipline among 4,000 young adults! With our expected workload, I will be losing weight and won't be needing the help of a weight-loss pill nor read about an Anoretix review which was sent to me earlier today.

So tomorrow, I will be endorsing pertinent documents and files to my boss. I will also begin packing my stuff. No one is going to replace me yet but I hope it is someone so close to our hearts as he is very familiar with our office operations and have been proving his dedication and commitment to our office's cause.

New work. New boss. New colleagues. New challenges. New week. Bring them on! (Oh, help me, God!) :)

Letting Go and Holding On

Howdy and how's your weekend? It's been raining again and as much as I love the cold temperature, I feel for those who worry about the rising level of water in some areas in and around the city. *sigh*

On a lighter note, a made a layout last night! Woohoo! These photos were not the originally planned photos to be scrapped but I followed the inspiration and was able to come up with this:
(Click on the image for a larger view and to read the journaling.)

These photos were taken about two months ago, when we began weaning the girl from her bottles. It was tough for us and for her. Just look at that face and the milk mustache - reveal how she took time to drink the milk from her cup. That was two months ago and we're still struggling! She from her weaning and me, from the fact that my girl isn't a baby anymore.

Anyways, I still have a few more hours left for my weekend and I do hope to finish the wedding invitation that we have working on. My former boss' (and our matchmaker's) parents will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary next week. This is going to be my first time to attend such an occasion and events like this makes me pray harder for my marriage. Babe, are you reading this? I will hold on to you and let's celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary together. Deal? Deal. :) Of course, I will be wearing a pretty gown and I hope that I won't grow too fat and be needing a big corset to be able to fit into it. :)

My Dream Faucets

One of my brothers in-law is studying Interior Designing and he is due to graduate really soon. He is so good with his chosen craft that I've already made a contract with him - that he will help us once we buy and build a house in Pampanga.

During our vacation there last year, I enjoyed going around the mall with him, looking at and admiring furniture and fixtures as well as interior designs of shops and stores. We also saw Danze faucets and I am very much fascinated with their beauty and elegance. Yeah, they are just faucets but those little things can really add-up spunk and sophistication to your bathrooms and sinks. Once it materializes, I will definitely get one or two for our dream house. ;)

Boracay and Digital Kits

>> Wednesday, June 25, 2008

My good online and real life buddy, Liz, just came from the dream vacation destination of many Filipinos and foreigners alike - Boracay! Her photos prove how much fun she and her friends had. I so envy her! However, I only have one complaint - I don't see much of her in the photos! And that's because most of the time, she is behind the camera! So mommy-ish, like me! :) I jokingly told her that next time, she should bring me along and I will be her photographer. And she agreed (even bringing along with my husband and my little girl) if she wins the lottery! I hope she would soon! LOL!

A number of people I know bet, hoping that they will win big time and fulfill their dreams for their families. I would love to winn too, you know. I can buy all the digital kits I like (and Diane can stop teasing me from scrimping on them! LOL) But first, in order to win, I must bet! :)

Anyway, speaking of lotteries, have you visited an online casino or two recently? Their number is growing daily and one can choose from the variety of games that they offer. You get to enjoy the thrill of winning (and disappointment that comes with losing. I hate loosing.) right at the comforts of your home. Curious now? I have read that in some online casinos, it is a must download and install an application in order to play. However, for some computer-security freak like me, there are some no download casinos available. Plus one can play anywhere in the world anytime one likes. So cool, right?

Ninang's Girl

I've been a good girl and used my growing stash into good use! Here's a very recent layout of my girl and her Ninang Marijo. I have been looking for a way to scrap this photo and thank you, Lord for the inspiration! :) It feels good to document the special relationship that these two share. Without further ado, here's the layout:

The Saturday that Was

I was concerned over my slow laptop while they were rushing to get out of their house and be relocated. Or rescued. That was yesterday when the storm locally named Frank hit our area the hardest. My boss' family had to relocate while Wes was fetched by one of his co-workers to rescue a colleague's family. There were reports about death and not to mention, damages to properties. It was horrible listening to the stories, much more seeing the TV footages. I was not able to go to work yesterday and as expected, our university which lies on a below sea level area of the city was flooded. Very flooded. I joined thousands of people yesterday who whispered a prayer for the ceasing of the heavy rains. And amazingly, it just stopped early in the afternoon. The skies just became clear. Thank you, Lord!

Next step, providing assistance to the victims of the calamity and encouraging others to do the same. ;)

This one is from Alpha.

1. Copy and paste everything to a new post and Add your name next to your profession (or profession-to-be for undergrads) in the list. Make sure your name is linked to your blog/webbie.

It's Over

The enrollment at the university where I work, that is. What a relief since our office plays a major role in the admission of more than a thousand new students. This the the second year of implementation of our new school information system. Thank God, there were lesser bugs and problems encountered but still, the program need improvement. We are still working hand in hand with the programmer in order to perfect the system. Moreover, the school needs to purchase thermal printers and thermal labels in order to print the receipts and other pertinent documents, as suggested by the programmer.

I am proud and happy to note that I played a big role in the development and improvement of our office's module. I worked closely with our Information Management Office and our programmer while developing the module and reported bugs that I discover. It will be one of my legacy once I transfer to another office. But that, my friend, is another story. :)

Sharing the Love

>> Friday, June 20, 2008

Thanks for this, Yen!

Rules in sharing Crytal’s Love:

Share this award with all those blogs out there that you love. All the people who make you smile. All those that make you laugh. All those that make your day. All those that leave uplifting comments on your blog. **All I ask, is that you include a link to this post with the award and ask your recipient to do the same**
As you may have recently seen on my side bar, I have finally created a custom blog award!! I have wanted to do this for a long time but never came up with something that “fit”. I didn’t want just anything. It had to be something that meant something to me. And what could mean more than Sharing the Love by giving you pieces of my heart??
So I created this award in Honor Of The Donor That Saved Noah’s Life. I share this award with those of you whose love and friendship have enriched my life and made my world a better place. I hope by passing this award around the blogging world we can all help raise awareness of the need for Organ Donation.

I am happily returning it back to Yen and passing it on to Liz, Ate JennyL, Shaui, Chikai, Litzie, Alpha, Buge, Diane, Kelsey, Tracy, Caryl and Mai. These are some of the girls who have been making my online life a breeze. :)

Fill in the blanks for this weeks meme....
1. I always wanted to know how to budget though it has not been an issue with us since we only go for the basic needs and rarely splurge. But I think that I will feel secure if our income is properly accounted for. Gotta check-out that budget software that my friends have been talking about.
2. I really hate it when things don't go the way I planned them to be.
3. My best friend is my husband. Super best friend, I may say. I can tell him anything and everything, he supports and loves me unconditionally and he calm and comfort me in a way that no one can.
4. In high school I was one of our school's PMT officers.
5. My greatest fear is death of a loved one.

New *Stuff*

Just an update: The girl got sick with a slight fever and bad headache yesterday so we had to be absent from work and school. Today, I am feeling sick too with allergies (again) and have been sneezing like crazy. However, the girl is doing OK now and I am relieved. We already went to class and work again this afternoon. Thank you, Lord! :)

Wednesday Blah-Blah-Blah

What are you lookin' at?

I went to the opthalmologist today to consult about my eye allergy which has been recurring in the past weeks. It is uncomfortable and has even triggered a lingering headache yesterday. It was soooo disturbing. I even woke up to a terrible headache last night. Terrible and horrible. That convinced me to go and see my opthalmologist. And so I did.

While waiting for my turn, I was horrified and saddened when I saw and heard the story of the patient #12 (I was patient #15). She has a patch over her right eye. And she was crying like crazy. She is around 3-5 years old. She is the 6th kid from a far away province and it seems that her mom is infanticipating. No adult was around and they were left alone (with her siblings, I suppose). And they *think* her eye was itchy so she *scratched* it with a knife. Terrible and horrible! Anyways, like what I was saying, she was crying her heart out! The good lady receptionist tried cheering her up with a box. To no avail. Good thing my little girl gave me two biscuits before I left for work. I handed one to the crying girl and she immediately consumed it. No more tears! I gave her the other one afterwards. From what I gathered, she was scheduled for a surgery soon. Ah...Talk about accidents and responsibility. It felt like my heart was twisted (or smashed) while looking at her. And listening to what happened to her. She is so small. And frail. And helpless. *sigh*

Anyways, when it was my turn, my eyes were checked and the doc said that I won't be needing prescription glasses. Questions were asked, clarifications even. His diagnosis? MIGRAINE. Me? Migraine? No way! The people I know who are suffering from migraines are intelligent, smart, achievers! Not me! :D But I listened to him, asked for my prescriptions (about 3 meds for my eyes and 2 meds for my *migraine*) and left and bought *some* of the medicines. LOL!

About 3 hours upon my return to work, the ground shook! It was strong enough to shake our office walls. We immediately vacated the area but people outside the building seemed to be oblivious to what happened. I just hope that it won't happen again. It was soooo scary.

On a happier note, I was able to have lunch with Marijo, my super best friend, who is working near the doctor's clinic. I invited her but she paid for our lunch! Yay!

Re Ces' Drilon and company's *detention* - ABS-CBN finally breaks its silence and reported the story. I hope and pray that they will be released soon.

Anyways, I have another news -- work-related. But I can't share it right now. I rarely post about my *real* job here but there is going to be a big change and sometimes, change does excite me. Will be posting about it once things get official.

So that's my Wednesday. How was your day?

Abducted

This is going to be my 250th post. Unfortunately, it is not going to be a happy one since I just heard a sad news and was able to verify it online. Ces Drilon, a famous Filipina journalist of ABS-CBN was abducted this weekend by the Abu Sayyaf militants. She was with her crew and the Mindanao Peoples Caucus Chairman, Prof. Octavio Dinampo. According to the police reports, they were abducted in Kulasi, Maimbung in Sulu. More information can be read here.

Let us all pray for their safety. I feel for their families. I hope they will be coming home really, really soon.

And this is going to be a short post because I feel L-A-Z-Y!!

It is going to be a long weekend anyways. Let's see if I can come up with a layout or two. ;)
