The Storks Came!
Congrats, Ate Caroline for another precious little boy, John Karl! He was born last October 5, 2007 at Davao City. Ate Line has been a good friend of mine way back in college. She is one of Therese’s pretty godmothers.
Ate Jane, my cousin in-law, now has Michael Jairus, born on October 11, 2007. Congrats, Ate!
And last but not the least, welcome to the world, baby Seanna Rose! Shelley, my brave sister in-law gave birth to her after 20 hours of labor last October 12, 2007. Way to go, Shell! We are very, very proud of you!! We are looking forward to seeing you and Sea and Dhigs very, very, very soon! Here is a photo of the proud mom and the little cutie, saying "hello!" to each other:
Upon coming home last Thursday, Therese’s caregiver informed me that her ward refused to do her seatwork which was writing short words. While giving the little girl a bath that night, this was how our conversation went:
Me: “Hindi ka raw sumulat sa class ninyo?”
Therese: *shook her head while making pa-cute*
Me: “Bakit hindi ka sumulat?”
Therese: *no answer*
Me (again): “Bakit ayaw mong sumulat?”
Therese *thinking then finally answered with all seriousness, “Kasi mapapagod ang hands ko.”
That definitely caught me off-guard! This witty and smart girl surely is, her father’s child!
Exam week is coming up, therefore, this weekend will be spend studying, reviewing and practicing on how to write. The last one is going to be tough. But I hope not! Last week of October will be their semestral break. Yeah, even prep school kids have sem breaks! We are actually looking forward to that short break since the three of us are going to spend it somewhere out there. ;)
I’ve Been Published!
Second semester for schools here in the Philippines is coming up. To encourage students to enroll in the university where I work, our Information Management Office Director and my good friend, Ate Kim, requested yours truly to conceptualize and design an advertisement which would be printed on our local newspaper that comes out weekly. (We used to have text ads plus a colored ad, which was also used as the design of our school poster).
Anyways, I used the photos taken during my recent photo op with our school’s student leaders. I came up with two designs, one was published last October 13, 2007 and the other one will be published today. =)
Reads
I just want to share some of my recent buys from the superb online bookstore, bookoto. I am extremely satisfied with my Color Index by Jim Krause and A Designer’s Eye for Scrapbooking by Ali Edwards. I am particularly grateful to fellow Bev, Joy and Jacq for helping in choosing Ali’s book. Her book is jam-packed with not only pretty layouts but also important and useful insights and ideas on scrapbooking and designing. I was amazed when I got the book and saw how thick it is with 172 pages.
On the other hand, the Color Index is a cute, little book of over 1100 color combos in CYMK and RGB formulas for print and web media. I find this very, very, very useful since I am not confident with my color combinations. This little cutie is definitely a favorite and has been useful in designing the ads which I present above.
I already asked the kind and accommodating co-owner of bookoto, Sheryl, to also order on my behalf, two other Index titles: Idea Index and Layout Index, all by Jim Krause. Paging Ms. Sheryl! Yohoo! =)
5S
Have you heard of it?
We at the university recently underwent a 5S seminar. 5S is a housekeeping system developed in Japan. 5S stands for 5 terms which are: Seiri (Sort), Seiton (Systematize), Seiso (Sweep), Seiketsu (Sanitize) and Shitsuke (Self-Discipline). You can learn more about this concept here.
We were already oriented about this concept some eons ago. But I think that we are being reviewed this time since our school will be having visitors from an accrediting institution some time next year. LOL! But seriously, this is concept is worth looking in to. It is very simple, practical and useful not only in the workplace but also in our respective homes.
Photos of the Week
To end this post, here are some photos taken during this week. Lookie!
We have a cutie pie who is obviously sleeping soundly. The same girl also refused to hand her dad’s pair of socks on the morning of his departure for a business trip. She played with the socks with glee and even allowed her photos to be taken. (Oh, she despised being photographed these days!) And lastly, you can see a great husband and daddy who is not working, instead, seriously immersed into a computer war game! LOL! He’s been feeling a bit sad because of his work for some weeks now. That made him feel a bit sorry for himself and he was kind of psychosomatic for several days. I told him to find something else to do aside from sleep and watch TV. Something interesting for him, something to keep him preoccupied. Something like a computer game or something. He’s obedient so there you go. ;)
That’s all for this week. I hope you all have a great weekend! And if you come by, please leave a comment here or in my CBox.
Ta-ta for now!
